Visual Analysis
So, This time we have to visual analyze an art or design work that revolves around a theme, which is about an equality. We are allowed to choose more than on artwork to analyze and i already chose the artwork that i'm going to alnalyze. We are required to write 500 word to visual analyze the artwork. I chose this serveral artwork to visual analyze because, I think all of this artwork have the relateable message that everyone want to see right now.
Fig 2.1 George Giusti Illustration
This is an artwork by George Giusti paired with a quote by Jane Adams, 1956 "Civilization is a method of living. An attitude of equal respect for all men. This artwork is interesting because, it's raise a theme about an equality in racial thing. This topic is really popular right now especially in the US, the tragedy that make an Black Lives Matter movement.
We can see what is the main purpose and a message that the designer wants the viewer to understand, which is an equality in racial thing. The visual hierarchy that the designer wants the viewer to see is the hands that holding together. The hands have a different colour that represent the multicultural in the world. The holding hand is represent the unity in the human race. The second in the visual hierarchy in this artwork is the message by Jane Adams about how human civilization should be. The purpose of the quote is to clarify what the designer trying to say.
Fig 2.2 Gender Equality Artwork by Mary Anne Pennington
Now we move to the second one. The designer make this artwork quite simple. We can see that the theme that raised by this designer is about an gender equality. The composition of this artwork is the scizzor, cutted half woman silhouette, men silhouette, and "society as a whole benefits immeasurably from a climate in which all persons, regardless of race or gender, may have the opportunity to earn respect, responsibility, advancement and remuneration based on ability." by Sandra Day O'Connor.
Okay, we move to breakdown the meaning of the design. What the writer trying to say with the scizzor and cutted half woman silhouette is the writer want the viewers to realize that the frequently woman tends to be seen as not a whole complete human being which is it's very not equal. The men silhouette seen as a whole so it will realize the viewer how very concerned and very not equal how men and woman is treated in the world The quotes is once again same purpose as the artwork before, Which is to clarify the message that the designer wants to say with her artwork.
Fig 2.3 "My Sexual Orientation Is Not A Defect." Created by artist Daniel Arzola
Now it;s the last one. This artwork is raising a very hot topic right now because the respond for this topic is quite variative. some agree people with it and some people not agree. It's about an equality in a sexual orientation. The message that the designer is trying to say it's quite obvious. We can see at the quotes.
We can see the colour meaning thst the designer use for this design. For example like yellow is colour in LGBT community is represent the people that identify himself as outside of gender binary and the purple colour is represent the people that identify they self as the mixture of both gender. The quotes by the designer "My sexual orientation is not a defect, I'm not a joke." is an designer concern that usually the LGBT people considered as people that sick mentally by the people that not agree with it.
My Concern About
INEQUALTY
What I think is equality is an bullshit. Maybe I sound like an asshole but, before you guys start to judge me please read my writing till the end first and then you can judge me. So, our world is made unequal, even in the cavemen era what womens do were cooking and mens were hunting and battling with mammoth and sabretooth tiger, and now woman demand for an equality? (it's a joke *wink*) some people born from rich family, some people born from poor family, some people have a beautiful face, some people have a so-so face (if i say ugly its too harsh haha).
We livin in the world that everyone is want to be the best, living in this world is a competition, everybody is ready to step up and take your place in the world if you not capable, and then we talking about inequality. It doesn't make any sense. some people do less effort to reach a goal but, some people do harder effort even twcie as hard the first person to reach a same goal. I'm not fully against the equality, I like the idea that woman have should get a opportunity as equal as a men and vice versa as long they are capable but, come on guys be realistic some subject in a human lives womens and mens cannot be equal, Like a sport. Come on Imagine Lebron James match-up man-to-man with breanna stewart for example, is it equal?
Not only about that, some people that fighting for the equality even attacking their own people. You know the Dave Chapelle case, that he make a joke about a trans people and the people that fighting for LGBTQ community mad. So, Dave Chapelle said he make that joke not to offend the LGBTQ but, because its funny. That's what comedian do, make a joke. And then, Dave Chapelle have a trans friend who stand for him (Daphne Dorman). And the LGBTQ community start to attacking Daphne. They even attacking their own kind and Daphne Dorman commit a suicide, what they do is doesn't make any sense. Equality is an premature idea with an immature people that fighting for it
So forget about the idea about world have to be equal. Just work hard, become the best version of yourself cause world is more tougher than you think.
EQUALITY
IS AN UNICORNSH!T
Fig 3.1 Equality Is an Unicornsh!t
Unicorn Fetus
I'm using the unicorn as the main object on this design because, Unicorn is a symbol of hope for LGBT culture due to the association between animal and rainbow. Unicorn is a mythical animal that everyone look for but, it's just a lie. I make the unicorn as a fetus because, I think the idea about the world have to be Equal is an premature idea and we should think twice about it. It's still took a long time for the idea to become a full mature idea that make sense at least for Me.
Snowglobe
The Snowglobe represent that if the Idea about equality happen it's gonna be a big achievement for our world (Congrats to people that live in the year of 3212 if the world not turning into mad max world-type). Cause usually people use snowglobe as accesories to their home. So, my imagination is there are a racks full of world achievement like World War 1, World War 2, No more slavery event, and Equality in our world (Upcoming in the summer of 3212).
The Dark Clouds
I'll name it the dark cloud of depression. The dark cloud is represent the emotion of the people that demand the equality for the world. The Clouds circling the unicorn because behind the hope and the idea there are a big anger that surrond the community.

Feedback
Week 13
When i show my work to Ms. Pouline she said, she really like the topic that I chose for this project. I'm a bit surpirize that Ms. Pouline agree about my idea. She said, It's kinda true. But, She said my design it;s a bit raw. Maybe, i can add some text in it or something to make it feel look like a finished design.
Week 14
I attend the feedback session for replacement class. I show Ms. Pouline my final project blog and final compilation. Ms. Pouline said my blog is fine. I ask Ms. Pouline what can i improve in the future and Ms. Pouline said, She pretty enjoy my design throughout this semseter but, it will be better if I can improve my writing skills because, my writing skills is poor.
Reflection
From this project I feel like my level of understanding to put a meaning on my design is increasing. I like to put a different perspective in the design actually, i always try to counter the idea to against the norms, and Ms, Pouline support my idea it's really boost my confidence on my design. Overall, This project really helps me a lot to improve as a designer and i really enjoy this.
